Okay. Can we take a moment to talk about how seriously fucking sad I find this scene? Like, it breaks my heart. Yeah, his actions in Iron Man 2 weren’t the best, but it’s true. He wasdying. All Tony Stark wants is for someone to want him for who he is, but at the same time, no one thinks less of Tony than Tony himself.

And then, for Fury to tell him Iron Man yes, Tony Stark no. It’s just more of what he’s been told his whole life. We want your money, your brains, your tech, your body, but we don’t want you. We only like the armor, not what’s inside. And that goes far beyond the suit, because Tony Stark has been wearing armor long before he became Iron Man.

I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one. And they want to take it away from him, strip him of the best part of himself and leave the rest behind.
